1. Miami Herald article:
Dolphins fire coach Cameron

<snip>

"One and done.

Less than a year after the Dolphins hired Cam Cameron, the team advised him Thursday morning that he has been fired as Miami's head coach. A search for his replacement is already underway.

Cameron, who coached the Dolphins for just one season to a 1-15 record, was unable to successfully convince vice president of football operations Bill Parcells that he should be the man to turn around the team's dismal season.

Cameron's entire staff has been jettisoned -- except for linebacker coach George Edwards and assistant special teams coach Steve Hoffman.

A news conference has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday.

The firing comes one day after Parcells named Jeff Ireland the team's general manager.

Parcells and Cameron arrived at the team's Davie facility early Thursday. They were then met inside by owner Wayne Huizenga, who showed up driving his black Mercedes-Benz.

Parcells had previously met with Cameron for several hours early Tuesday afternoon, but a decision about his fate had not yet been made -- or at least Parcells was keeping it as close to his vest as possible.

The Dolphins are expected to soon be in contact with Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano and Arizona running backs coach Maurice Carthon. Sparano is scheduled to interview for the Falcons' vacant head-coaching job Friday.

Even if the team eventually chose not to hire Carthon, an interview with him would still be important to satisfy the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to include minority candidates in their interviewing process."
