As for mainstream Americans waking up: they have to be the most comfortable people in the world. Many, many, MANY layers of comfort must be broken through to get their attention. Given bu$h's "filter of the media," the process is going to take WAY longer than any of us would like, IMO.

I don't see a struggle as you describe it, but I am suddenly getting this long period of toil and drudgery, of life being hard.
