I have to wonder if Matt Groening reads DU or not. This wasn't the best Simpson's episode, but it certainly hit on a lot of core issues with me.

Who was the TV personality that the family went on TV with? Was it supposed to be a send-up of Tweety's 'Hardball'?

Thought the singing skit, a la "The Sound of Music" was quite apropos. That's what it feels like America has become, after all. I really hated the "Tax and spend! Tax and spend!" Democrat line - I'm a die hard Democrat and part of the reason is because I think Democrats are the only fiscally responsible party left. I know it's just "humor" but I hate seeing that sort of thing because it's simply not true anymore.

The ending was boring and a letdown. But overall, the story was something that I could really identify with, especially since I'm stuck in a red state.
