10. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN: don't underestimate McCain
As inept a candidate that Bob Dole was, remember that Ross Perot was also runing in '96. If Perot's votes would have gone to Dole, we would have been in the same nearly 50-50 mess of the 2000 and 2004 campaigns.

McCain seems like a rather lifeless candidate, as did Bob Dole. He is not particularly inspiring or charming. He gets iritated easily. He is not a good speaker. But at to this point the media has given him a free ride, and endlessly hammered Obama for weeks now. Hopefully, this won't continue, but if it does, I expect the election to be close, despite the overwhelming desire for change in the nation.

(Here, is something else to consider...Jimmy Carter barely beat Gerald Ford after Watergate. Point is, a tight presidential election is not all that unlikely.)
