Those were the days .... I miss a lot of these people, some of whom I ended up having real-life friendships with. It's very easy to become emotionally attached to DU. After time, people come and go, and I sorta just took a back-seat to just read - though I am here several times a day. I think the one who had the biggest impact on me was kali, followed by my old friend, johnhorne. I loved their brains and analysis.
It wasn't but a few days after DU opened that I read a few links about the Bush* family that kali pm'd me. It was a Sunday. I broke down at my computer after reading some things about Poppy Bush. I haven't been the same since, nor have I thought of my country the same since. For the rest of my life, I will never forget that Sunday afternoon.
Some DUer's have passed on; I wish the best for those who no longer post here. I wish they'd come back so we can finally celebrate when we get rid of ol' whistle-ass - something we once promised we'd do.
PS: I cheated - I looked in my PMs for old DUers.
