Heard Somebody On A Cable News Show This A.M. Saying Scotty's Book Will Be Forgotten By Next Week...

claimed it would be old news and not be talked about.

If you listened to Scotty this a.m. on the Today Show - IMHO - I think he came off as genuine and credible. Bartlett tried to discredit him - but he came off like he was spewing WH talking points against Scotty and not credible. Samw old, same old.

Scotty said he wrote the book to show the American people what goes on behind the scenes and to illustrate that we have to get away from the partisan politics and the continual campaign of each party wanting power and influence. (paraphrasing) He hoped we'd learn something from the book and not commit past mistakes going forward. He thought it was timely given the current election cycle.

He talked about being on the WHIG committee (White House Information Group or WHIG was the marketing arm of the White House whose purpose was to sell the 2003 invasion of Iraq to the public)during Ari's absence. He said he was/is disillusioned and not disgruntled - and that's why he wrote the book. He came to D.C. with all these hopes and fired up by *'s rhetoric and then he saw what really happened. He did claim that he felt deceived by Rove/Libby in the Plame affair - lied to - and as a result made to look the fool.

What he didn't say and wasn't asked about was projecting to the future about Iran. I'm thinking that an ulterior motive as to why he wrote the book is to prevent the WH from taking us into Iran. I think he had attempted to point out how we were deceived on Iraq and wants us to recognize the signs as *Co pushes for Iran.

He fingered Cheney and I believe that he put Condi on notice. What I mean by this - he pointed out that Cheney was/is very influential over Bush and that Condi probably should have challenged Bush more. I think this is to be a shot over both their bows to not go there with Iran.

At any rate - a couple of major points I want to make here: 1. We can't let this book or the message die - we need to keep this alive to prevent *Co from making a move on Iran and dragging us down the same route we've been down before with Iraq and 2. we also need to keep this alive and in perspective during the GE campaign to help whatever Dem candidate runs against McCain - though I think that Obama has a better position to deal with this as he was anti-Iraq war - this needs to keep coming up until November that McCain helped *Co sell this so-called war; 3. We need to contact our congressmen and senators and get them to get Scotty up to the Hill to testify on Leahy's and Conyer's committees. We need to make sure that this administration get put in their place and send a message to future administrations that we will never let this happen to this country again.

Overall we need to make sure that Scotty's message and his book continue to be included in news cycles until the GE.
