6. There's a BIG DIFFERENCE! Dean was the WH lawyer, and

was in a position to KNOW EVERYTHING! It's fairly common knowlege that the Press guy is deliberately kept in the dark about everything but the things the WH wants him/her to know. I'm not saying he's wrong. Just being there every day, anyone would get the feel for what's going on, who's in charge, and who you can trust and who you can't. But Scotty's testimony wouldn't have near the clout that Dean's did!
