36-year-old Branden Hayes has been booked into jail on felony animal cruelty
charges.

HIs ex-girlfriend, Lisa Stewart, said she asked Hayes a couple of weeks ago to take her four kittens from the house to the garage to get a little air. A
few hours later she took their mother in to nurse. They were gone. She was
sick with worry.

"They were only twelve days old. Their eyes weren't even open yet," said
Stewart.

After searching the street for the kittens she said that Hayes finally admitted
he had buried them in the backyard after hitting them with a hammer and stabbing and strangling them to death.
