In other words, quite literally, they believe all wage income in America is taken out of the pockets of the rich, who must sacrifice some of their wealth in order to employ the rest of us in their private monopolistic businesses to prevent the rest of us from starving.

The McCain precinct captain tabling in my very liberal town (a black man) vociferously explained this in measured tones to a hostile crowd, and all his compatriots agreed.

This is why they argue we should help the rich first and foremost.

Social Darwinism.

Coupled with a belief that only the rich should be allowed to succeed and employ others.
