"I endorsed Joe Lieberman in his primary campaign against Ned Lamont, despite pressure from the base of our party, and from antiwar activists. He won, and then went on to endorse my Republican opponent, saying that I have never had the political courage to stand up to the left wing of our party. In addition, when asked if I might be a Marxist, he answered that it is a good question to ask. Now, after I have won and his candidate has lost, he appeals to my own message in order to save his chairmanship. OK, Joe, you got it, I'm bigger than that."
