I think that's a little harsh, and would be unlikely to pass.

However, since the latest craze is to pass state constitutional amendments that limit people's rights, how about this one: how about, people who are divorced cannot remarry.

It's right there in the Bible, stating that anyone who divorces his wife for anything other than fornication, and then goes and marries another, is committing adultery. And adulterers should be stoned to death.

Now, since Prop 8 did not suggest putting gays to death, even though the Bible says so, I'm thinking we should show similar enlightenment and simply disallow divorce and remarriage. Because it's a big no-no, says so right there in the Bible, and by golly by gum, it should not be allowed!

And when challenged on why we support it, we can coo and say "but they can still have their relationships, they just can't call it marriage."

Make it retroactive.

As a divorced person who has not remarried, it would remove my rights as well. However it is something I am willing to do in solidarity with my gay brethren and sistren. It is absolutely outrageous to add clauses to any constitution that take rights away from specific groups of people. If it is a harbinger of things to come, then let's get out there and make sure these principles are applied consistently.
