Take a look at the KKK application of Cynthia Lynch

I just came across a news article link to a copy of her hand written application to the KKK. She described her criminal history as follows:

"couple of misdemeanors on record

expunged fellony for attempt murder on ex husband (probation)

was over 2 years ago"

Cynthia Lynch was killed when she asked to leave a KKK initiation program.

She wrote in this criminal history info in the square labeled "recommendations."

"Academics" was marked as "10" - I guess this means 10th grade.

She is described in various reports as an Oklahoman who had never traveled outside of her state. This pattern of poverty, substandard education and living one's entire life in a narrow cultural setting typically produces frightened, insecure people who are terrified of anything or anyone different . It is the same pattern and result encountered in West Virginia, southwestern Pennsylvania and throughout the Appalachian region. It is profitably exploited by hate radio hosts, fundamentalist preachers, and the GOP, most recently exemplified by Sarah Palin and John Mccain..

When the European Union admits a country to membership, it wisely conducts studies to identify pockets within said country of substandard education, health care or employment, and then pumps in funds and programs to raise those levels, i.e., improving education for all, providing quality health care for all and creating jobs. That is to say, through their membership in the European Union, wealthier countries like Germany and France are subsidizing such programs for the newer, poorer member countries. Of course, since the EU does not define its mission as policeman for the world, or furthering the profits of the military industrial complex, it has the funds for these programs which stabilize the societies of its member countries, and thus stabilize the entire EU .
