I learned that I went WTF?

Well the wonderful econ crisis has hit library collections hard... so now they subscribe to a LOT MORE electronic sources. No, not just because they take less space... but they are cheaper. This is a way to extend their meager resources... and boy are they meager... I did not see many new books in the collection.

It is a couple weeks before midterms, and the library is empty (no, that has not changed... some things never change I guess)

The school bookstore does not carry academic books, well except the few from the faculty... why? Well they don't sell... yep, Borders has a better selection of I don't know history or mythology... than an academic bookstore. A sign of the times? In what respect Charlie? I was way underwhelmed by that in fact.

Oh and here is one that to a point bugged me... after all college is expensive enough.... food service has been privatized and they no longer discount the state tax to students.

The place was VERY DIFFERENT from when I went to school... though the school paper had photos of some recent protests involving a certain proposition... and that is a change. I still remember when they refused to print photos of the largest demonstration since the 1960s twenty years ago under the pressure of the school president. The UT... ok what ever, but the school paper did not publish those either back in the day... so I guess the new administration has less trouble with students exercising their rights.
