11. It'll be a weird holiday this year, but I enjoy them nonetheless. My M-I-L was taken to the ER
the day before Thanksgiving and now it's been determined that she has Leukemia. So she'll be getting chemo over the next month at least because they want to get started on treatment right away. Don't know what that's going to do to Christmas but we'll just have to see.

My sister just had a double mastectomy in September and will probably starting chemo soon as well. So lots of worry going on in the two sides of my family this year.

It's also quite possible that I may be getting laid off next week. My boss was making very cryptic comments that left me really wondering (and who isn't running scared right now in this economy?).

So, like I said, this year is going to be a little weird. But we'll do our best. With everything going on, I won't have time to do the one thing I enjoy the most: make tons of homemade Christmas gifts. Last year I silkscreened reusable grocery totes with one of my own illustrations, then filled them with various eco-friendly goodies depending on the tastes of the recipient. They were a HUGE hit and really fun to make, and I didn't have to do any wrapping because the bags functioned as gift bags! But this year, I just don't have the time. That's bumming me out a lot. I am determined at least to make my cards and then we'll make a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of buying gifts.
