I thanked a true hero in public today

I was marching with my local in the Labor Day Parade this morning. I was passing out candy to the spectators. I heard somebody call my name. I looked up to see a lawyer I am very proud to know. He represents my local. Tim was sitting with his wife and children. I went over to make sure his kids got candy. I then said in my loudest voice, "This is the man that got me my job back when I was illegally fired two years ago". He got a round of applause from everybody around him. Tim's family got to see in person, what Tim does for people like me, and my family. I just got a thank you from him in an email. I replied it was my honor to do so.
