86. I live near a few military people
active duty and retired.

They are very well paid. The housing allowance is $1200 a month. From young to old, depending on how long you've been in to what rank, they all live in nice houses and drive nice cars. Some own 3 or more vehicles.

It's not uncommon to see service people here living in $180,000 to $300,000 homes. Maybe even more expensive houses if the spouse is enlisted too.

My neighbor is 22 and lives in a brand new home, has two brand new vehicles. Wife does not work. He's been in 4 years. They don't seem to be hurting for anything.
