The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Catalin D. Dima, 36, of White Lake, N.Y., died Nov. 13 in Baghdad, Iraq, when enemy mortar fire landed near his position. Dima was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 411th Engineer Brigade, New Windsor, N.Y.

2. Thanks for posting this.
This thread will sink to the bottom rapidly. Its unfortunate since a lot of the information like stories and photos of the KIAs, are never posted anymore by Yahoo, NBC or other news outlets.

The present Criminal Regime cares less about the dead servicemen and servicewoman and their families, than they do about some fetal tissue sitting in a lab.

The Bush Criminals are evil beyond imagination.

I WILL NOT FORGET THEM.

3. A picture's worth x words.

The previous date range shows more pics. And the daily rate fluctuations are plain to see in this arrangement. Some tough days there. And virtually unreported.

4. current pace would lead to 1500 dead by inauguration day....
...low end would be about 1300(if the rate goes down to about 1.5 per day), with the mid-range about 1400. Since the 2nd anniversary is 3/19/05, it's a given that the fatality rate went up in the second year, possibly by as much as 50%.

My personal guess is that fatality rates of double or triple this month's rate probably represent the natural upper limit for a conflict of this nature. If the US rate somehow hit 20 or more a day for a month or more, the political pressure to withdraw would be overwhelming, even for someone as stubborn as the current President.

I hope the rates don't go higher than they are now...
