Americans Show Clear Concerns on Bush Agenda
After enduring a brutally fought election campaign, Americans are optimistic about the next four years under President Bush, but have reservations about central elements of the second-term agenda he presented in defeating Senator John Kerry, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.

At a time when the White House has portrayed Mr. Bush's 3.5-million-vote victory as a mandate, the poll found that Americans are at best ambivalent about Mr. Bush's plans to reshape Social Security, rewrite the tax code, cut taxes and appoint conservative judges to the bench. There is continuing disapproval of Mr. Bush's handling of the war in Iraq, with a plurality now saying it was a mistake to invade in the first place.

While Democrats, not surprisingly, were the staunchest opponents of many elements of Mr. Bush's second-term agenda, the concerns extended across party lines in some cases. Nearly two-thirds of all respondents - including 51 percent of Republicans - said it was more important to reduce deficits than to cut taxes, a central element of Mr. Bush's economic agenda.

2. Then why did they vote for him?
How many millions voted for Bush? I believe they were in the 50-million figure. I know these guys are cheaters, but not ALL the votes were rigged. That would be a bit challenging, even for these charlatans.

This article makes absolutely NO sense. When they had a clear alternative (Kerry made it very clear how he would handle things in the debates) they go back to this clown who managed to practically destroy everything in his wake. Now they're giving him an extension on the time needed to do just that.

This is a case of choosing the Devil Known over the Savior Known.

15. Too late for reservatations now
What would be the point? The GOP controls everything. Should be too difficult to know who to blame in 2006, though, that's what everyone had said in 2002.

5. This American is optimistic that after the inevitable collapse brought
on by this Rabid Right Wing fanatic sect of the Bush Death Cult, there will be enough of us left to restore the democracy and return to the company of civilized nations. IF we get fair transparent elections in place now we may be able to pull it off in 10 to 20 years. If not there is no path on which to return to the rule of law.

They want us to believe that more people rather than less:

voted against their own interests

voted against their belief that Bush is wrong on major policy issues

voted for Bush even though he is wrong on Iraq

voted for Bush although they believe he will overturn abortion while they personally support it

voted for Bush though they believe big business has too much sway over him

voted for the more divisive candidate

voted against the party they view more favorably

voted against the no. 1 issue which Bush is most vulnerable: economy and jobs

voted for the person who is taking the country in the wrong direction

And by far my favorite

56% are optimistic about the next four years but Bush's approval rating is 51%

Values my ass.

13. Well, after the thorough discussion we just had
And after all, the Bush voters have been telling us for weeks now that they completely understand all the issues, they're fully informed on all the implications and nuances and potential personal impact of every one of George W. Bush's policies and proposals, and they're totally okay with all of it, each and every one, every man jack of them.

And I'm sure we ALL remember the exhaustive reports on the impact that "privatizing" social security would have on everyone? All those graphs and charts, spelling out for people in easy-to-understand language just what these policies would mean for them? And you KNOW that they all had total comprehension of the effect further tax cuts and prosecution of the war in Iraq, as well as expansion into other nations, would have on the budget. I mean, even Letterman and Leno spent a couple of weeks interviewing economists, making sure everyone understood what was being proposed, right?

We also all remember the restraint and forbearance this administration practiced during its first term, and how it never made a move unless it had a real consensus from both sides of the aisle, Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, on just what the best course of action was. All those endless consultations with the minority party leadership that George conducted, the wall-to-wall coverage of all responsible viewpoints in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq? Why, we just had the best-informed, most knowledgeable electorate ever!

14. OK, let me get this straight...
They voted for him, and now they're concerned about what he's doing? Well, I guess a supreme being told them to do it, and now they're just having doubts. It's the devil causing them to question "the will of God"...they must repent!!

I swear, the logic that these people follow!

on their agenda. If bush doesn't ban abortion and gay marriage they say God will be angry with bush.

Scary shit.
