White House enlists religious groups in war on drugs

July 12, 2003 — 8:42 a.m.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration's latest effort to expand the role of religious organizations in government services enlists church-based youth groups in anti-drug programs.

The Office of National Drug Control Policy is offering guides, brochures and a Web site to provide information for leaders of religious youth groups to use in teaching — or preaching — a message against using marijuana and other drugs.

"Religious institutions are an enormously powerful influence on young people," said John P. Walters, director of the office, in announcing the program Thursday. "A lot of faith-based communities don't know how to talk about drug use. There's a need for a tool like this."

A study published in March by the American Psychological Association found that teenagers were less likely to use marijuana if they thought religion was important to their lives. (snip/)

4. ITS A SACRAMENT
Navajo Worship

Peyote; the Sacred Sacrament

http://perdurabo10.tripod.com/themindofjamesdonahue/id88.html

Our Navajo friends, who took the peyote sacrament as part of their religious ritual, say the drug is, for them at least, a true religious experience. The participants claim visions, see into the hearts and minds of the other people who share the influence of the cactus, and they have the ability, while the drug is in their system, to repair flaws in their own personalities so they can become better citizens. While we did not see this first hand, I was told that there was a lot of weeping and setting hearts right during their tent services, usually held in a large teepeE.

This will drive the CHIMP and ASSCROFT Mad !!!!!!
