Bush to Thank Canadians for Post-9/11 Aid
OTTAWA - When the United States closed its airspace after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, more than 200 airliners were diverted to airports across Canada, where stranded travelers were welcomed into homes.

President Bush (news - web sites) was traveling Wednesday to Nova Scotia to give the Canadians a belated "thank you" for helping Americans in their hour of need — a gesture aimed at warming frosty ties between the neighboring nations.

"Immediately, Canadians opened their homes and their hearts," Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin said in toasting Bush at a dinner in Ottawa Tuesday night. "Three days later, on September the 14th, 100,000 Canadians spontaneously gathered on Parliament Hill in what was and is the largest vigil ever seen in our capital."

2. "The largest vigil ever seen ..."
... and George Bush showed his appreciation by dropping his Chinese-made jeans, grabbing his coke-atrophied penis, and pissing all over Canada and every other civilized nation who put aside prior complaints and grudges and offered to stand beside America in a real fight on the forces of terrorism.

I almost can't bear to see how the world responds the next time America gets whacked by Osama.

4. Silence
That's how I think they'll respond. They won't be nasty and say "told you so" or "hey, you were asking for it" - I think most people have the decency not to go that far. But I do think there will be a deafening silence.

3. "...it was a Canadian general...at NORAD, who gave the order to initiate
What is THIS about?? Laying the blame at the Canadian's feet now, eh?

"On September 11th, it was a Canadian general, holding the chair at NORAD, who gave the order to initiate our defenses," Bush said Tuesday evening about the North American Aerospace Defense Command. "In an era of new threats, American and Canadian law enforcement and intelligence agencies are working more closely than ever before, and our peoples are more secure because of it."

8. The command has always rotated between US and Canada...
at NORAD since 1958, it has been a shared responsibility. As to a Canadian being at the helm on 9/11, that is true I believe but there is some question as to whether he was called in last minute.

11. Bush & Rove's big problem is a corporate problem as well.
They're looking for plausible deniability or communal decisions so that when the shit hits the fan, people don't think that Bush acted single minded.

Hell, there is no way to disguise the fact that he pissed away the goodwill that 9/11 afforded America. That capital was spent going to Iraq.

10. Well, it sure as hell wasn't any American who saw fit to defend us on 9-11
I wonder if this guy countermanded Cheney's order to let it go ahead.

6. Does he really think he fools us with this belated thanks?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 10:16 AM by glarius
He "forgot" to mention us in his TV speech, shortly after the event, when he thanked everyone else....He was pouting because we didn't join his attack on Iraq, I guess. He has had many occasions since to do so....if he was sincere....He's nothing but a lying PHONY!....

7. Pair who played host on 9/11 insist they don't seek Bush's gratitude
http://www.canada.com/maritimes/news/story.html?id=618b7f67-5a94-4ce4-ad10-f36ad70ef772

A Halifax family that hosted Americans during the September 11
terrorist attacks say they don't want the thanks of United States
President George W. Bush.

Bush is coming to the Nova Scotia capital to express his gratitude for
the hospitality given to grounded travellers three years ago.

Archie Kaiser and his wife Anne Derrick put up a New Jersey family for
several days.

But Derrick says she doesn't like the idea of her city being used as a
"photo opportunity" for a world leader she says has "blood on his
hands."

:tinfoilhat: Do you suppose he is finally thanking the Canadians because he knows something, like, ahh, maybe similar hospitality may be need sometime soon?
