Supreme Court Urged to Block (Hallucinogenic) Religious Tea
WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to stop a New Mexico church from using hallucinogenic tea while the government appeals a decision backing the church.

The government has been in a long-running legal fight with the Brazil-based O Centro Espirita Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal over hoasca tea, brewed from plants found in the Amazon River Basin.

The church won a preliminary injunction in a lower court, and justices were asked to intervene.

"Compliance with the injunction would force the United States to go into violation of an international treaty designed to prevent drug trafficking worldwide, which could have both short- and long-term foreign relations costs and could impair the policing of transnational drug trafficking involving the most dangerous controlled substances," acting Solicitor General Paul Clement wrote in a court filing.

3. Which drug is worse?
Religion or Hoasca Tea?

They both make you see and believe things that are not there.

12. Psychotropes are religion
At least offering alternative delusions to challenge the main stream delusions, often succeeding in getting rid of delusions.

Mainstream Christianity, by which religion seems to be judged, has in fact less to do with religion and more to do with Earthly Power, including and especially totalitarian mind controll, which ateistic versions of Power seek alike.

4. This Is What We Get From Hypocrites Who Call Themselves Religious
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 05:33 PM by Tace
Jesus this, and Jesus that. They don't understand that Jesus is a mushroom. The early Christians were a mushroom cult. They don't comprehend the entheogenic underpinnings of all the world's religions.

They only want to control people and keep them ignorant.

If you doubt what I am saying about Jesus and the early Christians, do a little studying. You might enjoy:

Also,

http://csp.org/

I am not advocating the use of entheogens by the general public. But, the ignorance of most people in this area is a shame.

Cheers

Edit: I'd like to add that I believe that freedom of religion in the United States includes the free use of entheogens for religious purposes. So far, that is why the common Amanita Muscaria mushroom, used by Christians and Masons, is not yet illegal. Same for the use of peyote by American Indians. It is very important that we do not further restrict our freedom of religion.

5. Many states allow use of peyote in Native American Church rituals
How is this a federal matter, and the peyote use by N.A.C. isn't, and how is this different under the law?

Seems like they should be treated the same way -- that way being 'allowed'.

7. Fractals . . .

"The main component of the ayahuasca brew (DMT) is found naturally in the body, so while governments like to insist it's a drug, most people consider ayahuasca a sacrament, albeit a powerful one. In Brazil it is legal and there it forms part of the ceremonies of the Santo Daime church. In some countries like Switzerland, Holland, and Australia it is semi-legal; in so much as there aren't any seizures of the brew."
