Judith Miller Finds It's 'Hard to Keep Doing Your Job'

NEW YORK Judith Miller, The New York Times reporter, one of several journalists facing jail time for refusing to reveal who leaked the identify of a CIA operative last year, says she is "in a state of denial" about the prospect of going off to jail as a crucial contempt of court appeal approaches in a week.

She also says she can only get a fraction of planned work done because of the ongoing meetings, interviews, and legal planning for her defense. "There is a list of about 20 things I had hoped to do by the end of the year and I will be lucky to get one or two done," she told E & P on Tuesday.

1. When a reporter does something against the public interest,
well...I can't find any sympathy for her.

the Iraq War.

16. The right is increasingly being represented by sleazy individuals.
Rush Limbaugh is a druggie; Novak is a leaker of top secret information; Delay's friends are con-men and he probably is too.

I think there's a webpage of this stuff somewhere.

7. Watched her last night on Charlie Rose....when she started on
this was all about "the people's right to know" I felt sick. When she later said that she felt "sorry for all the people in the gov. involved, they don't make much money, and they're involved" I nearly puked! Did she feel that way over all the people from Arkansas and the gov. during the Clinton witchunt?????

I'll never forget seeing her in a show on 911 on the History Channel, a show which also featured Pipes of the Mideast Institute or whatever it is. UGH! Right then you could tell her "leanings."

8. She is not a reporter.
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 08:19 PM by pa28
She knowingly became the vehicle for a campaign of lies and disinformation by the administration on Iraq. Then came the Wilson scandal.

There was no news value in the outing of Plame and as such she is not entitled to protect her "source".

Just call her Steno Judy -- just write what they tell you,

10. When did she start? (Doing her job that is)

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.

11. I'm torn
because Milller is a whore. But the Bush admin will use this
case to further intimidate journalists in all kinds of other
cases around the country.
Much as we may have to hold our noses, the
rights of journalists have to be protected.
That said, it seems inexplicable that everyone
except novak has been targetted. Maybe that's just
more proof of my thesis...

12. Look who's talking
That whore says it's "hard to do her job"??? Well, she didn't do her job in the first place. Her "work" on the Iraq war consisted of simple stenography and nothing more.

Nonetheless, I AM troubled by government intrusion into journalists' right to work without divulging sources, although the thought of busting a big, fat Republican who's commited treason by outing Ms. Plame makes me salivate!
