Brokaw Signs Off From 'NBC Nightly News'
By FRAZIER MOORE
AP Television Writer
Posted December 2 2004, 3:19 AM EST

NEW YORK -- Tom Brokaw began with a report on U.S. troops in Iraq. He ended the broadcast by saying farewell.

After nearly 23 years in the "NBC Nightly News" anchor chair, Brokaw reminded his viewers that "we've been through a lot together, through dark days and nights, and seasons of hope and joy.

"Whatever the story, I had only one objective: to get it right," he said Wednesday, declaring in a slightly quavering voice how he was "always mindful that your patience and attention didn't come with a lifetime warranty."

Brokaw, 64, is leaving "Nightly News" and daily journalism to pursue other interests, including more time on his Montana ranch. But he will still contribute to NBC News, doing at least three documentaries a year.

5. Ditto that!
After hearing him on the Today Show (yesterday) waxing poetic about the election of Ronnie Reagan as being the most memorable highlight of his career and practically drooling over the corpse, I can only say good riddance!!!!!!!!

6. How about that piece on the seriously wounded soldiers?
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 07:28 AM by Danmel
How none of the servicepeople missing limbs are bitter? How grateful they are? How they have no regrets? Really? They couldn't find any servicemen or women with blown off limbs who were angry? Depressed? All this moral uplift. I never realized how redemptive getting mutilated can be.

I must be seriously in need of some religion because I don't think I'd be grateful if I had my legs blown off for a war based on lies.

12. Well said. Brokaw was a disgraceful shill.
The stain of his cowardice upon American journalism is indelible. Shuffle away, shoeshine boy.

His replacement, as Frank Rich observed yesterday in a decent essay in the Times, is even less than zero.

14. Ah, but he just LOVES NASCAR!
Williams was going on and on about it in an interview this morning. Guess we see where the cream of the journalistic crop is going these days, huh?

13. good riddance, indeed!
Only wish he'd take Matt, Katie, Russert, and Tweety with him. GE-owned NBC and all its iterations (MSNBC, CNBC) are nothing but whorehouses.

7. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.......
you war monger! This guy is still living in the past with all his "Greatest Generation" shit. Maybe he can go produce some sappy Hallmark Hall of Fame movies now. He sugar coats everything and it's sickening.

8. GOOD RIDDANCE YOU WORTHLESS PRESSTITUTE!
If there is any justice in this world, Karma will come back to bite you in your worthless ass.

I hope you wind up broke and homeless on skid row begging for crumbs and the rich you whored for flip you off.
