Russia’s FSB Says Prevented Terrorist Attack on Strategic Gas Terminal

Russian special services say they recently prevented a major terrorist attack at a gas distribution facility of great strategic significance in the southern Astrakhan region, the Interfax news agency reported on Thursday citing a source in the Federal Security Service (FSB).

The operation to prevent the act of sabotage was conducted on Nov. 14, the FSB source said.

“During the detention operation, the person who intended to perpetrate the terror attack, Adam Sultanovich Magomadov, put up armed resistance and was killed, and his accomplice, Adam Salmanovich Magomadov, received a slight wound. A criminal case has been opened against the latter, he has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been started,” the FSB said.

The agency gave no other details on the case.
