A fugitive Serb should be extradited to Croatia to stand trial for war crimes alleged to have been committed more than 12 years ago, the High Court has ruled.

Damir Travica is accused of taking part in arson and the murder of a Croatian family as civil war engulfed Serbs and Croats.

Currently held at Brixton Prison, south London, he is the subject of an extradition request from the government of Croatia.

He is accused of being in a group of militiamen who burned down houses in the village of Ervenik, in the Krajina region, during an attempt by Serb forces and the Yugoslav National Army to drive out Croats in January 1992.
