CNBC to end John McEnroe's show
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 12:12 PM by RamboLiberal
http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?guid=%7BE43BA429%2D431D%2D44A5%2DAACC%2D6FCC6CA1CC69%7D&dist=rss&siteid=mktw

The viewer numbers for the show, which had its debut in July, were so low at times that they failed to qualify for Nielsen's ratings reports. It was drawing an average audiences of 75,000 a night, CNBC said.

That's well below an estimated daytime peak around 230,000 when stock markets close. Many daytime viewers in the channel's 86 million U.S. household connections briefly check the channel for index or stock performance, and it is said to have the highest audience income demographics on cable TV.

"McEnroe" failed despite the considerable fame of its host, one of the greatest tennis players of his era. Plus, CNBC was counting on reaching advertisers' coveted audience of young males, who enjoyed McEnroe's reputation for throwing temper tantrums on the tennis court and questioning authority.

The looming cancellation of the show is another sign that CNBC faces an uphill battle to find a meaningful audience in prime time. The network achieved a measure of fame in the TV business by dominating daytime broadcasting of business and finance news.

So when will they cancel that jerk Dennis Miller and his chimp?

5. So does Miller and his ratings are also in the toilet
but CNBC continues to carry that embarrassment of a show.

10. Not defending Miller, but I think Mc had a 0.0 rating share on
a number of occasions.

9. This article doesn't imply that.
"CNBC is a tremendous asset for the NBC network," said Ken Marlin, president of media investment bank Marlin & Co. in New York. "In fact, the speculation is whether MSNBC will survive or whether it should be folded into CNBC."

12. When will the Left have a FOX news?
The lack of a left-leaning cable news channel shows more than anything that the media has been walled-off from the left wing.

Who doubts that they could triple their audience if they put forth left-wing 'unbalanced' programs?

They should covert CNBC into the Fox News for Wall street and turn MSNBC into the left wing Fox news (only better.)

Doesn't AAR show the potential?

Don't these CEO's have a fiduciary duty to thier shareholders. Does this not trump their desire to carry water for the RNC?

15. What about Al Gore's network?
I've heard it's supposed to be more "educational" (maybe a new version of PBS) -- he ought to junk those plans and just go rabid leftwing. It'd give him a place to air those great speeches he was giving toward the end of the campaign!

guess i'm part of the 0.0? he does a good job i think. i mean when he's got the right guests. i could do without the playmates, but when he's on issues its good stuff. i'll never forget ann the mann's cameo. john limply held up her book (sideways)and when the break was over, she had walked out. the guy on after her was like, "she needs to eat." so i guess me and the other guy will miss it.
