Graner may lose prison job (Abu Ghraib guard lose civilian job)
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/trib/regional/s_279319.html

A Uniontown Army reservist facing criminal charges in the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal in Iraq was notified recently that he'll lose his job as a prison guard at the State Correctional Institution in Greene County if he is convicted.

In addition, Charles Graner was suspended without pay in September, which means the $500 monthly stipend he'd received from the state since his deployment about 1 1/2 years ago has stopped.

Dan Davis, assistant to the superintendent at SCI Greene, said Graner recently was informed via a letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections that he will be dismissed from his employment as a corrections officer as a result of the charges filed against him in connection with the prison scandal in Iraq.

"He was notified of his dismissal in a letter the Department of Corrections mailed to him Oct. 23. Once he was officially charged, he was in violation of the Governor's Code of Conduct," Davis said.

2. Why are they not conducting an investigation into his performance
as a guard? Do they think he just learned how to be sadistic in Iraq?

4. Is Halliburton hiring?
He might be able to go back to Iraq as a Halliburton contractor. Hopefully he can be assigned to assist the new Iraqi government in some appropriate way.

I am encouraged to know that his Abu Ghraib conduct is in violation of the Pennsylvania Governor's Code of Conduct. Perhaps Bush's flunkies could read it and figure out what was wrong.

5. Is This A Joke?(The article, not the poster)
Are we supposed to feel sorry for him? What a waste of newsprint!
A guy tortures people, he MAY lose his job supervising prisoners?

He isn't even in military detention!! He is serving with his unit!

I think it's no shock that if he is found guilty and sentenced to 17 years, that the state will not hold his job for him. His lawyer doesn't even deny the charges. He just says that higher ups gave him orders to do it. I think that is probably true, but he is still guilty.

It's just another example of the RW media trying to make the villan the victim. I don't know how an editor would justify printing this as news, though.
