Militainment Gone Amok: The Military Channel
MediaChannel.org issues this alert:

"America is a strange country. All of its best generals are journalists," Defense Undersecretary Douglas J. Feith told the San Francisco Chronicle in a recent interview.

Now the generals have their own cable channel.

As the Fourth Estate continues to morph into what General/Journalist Tommy Franks calls the "Fourth Front" in the ongoing and endless war on terror, and as the lines blur ever-further between military public affairs--disseminating accurate information to the media and the public--and psychological and information operations using often-misleading information and propoganda to influence the outcome of a campaign or battle--the inevitable has finally happened.

The Military Channel.

As the Hollywood Reporter aplyt put it, "Discovery Wings Channel has been drafted."

Just what we needed...a 24 hour propoganda network, brought to you by the same communications company that disseminates Disney and Animal Planet. Brainwashing those kiddies has got to start early to provide Bush with enough cannon fodder these days.

1. More incipient fascism
Or militarism, similar to Prussia under the Kaiser. Fortunately the cable bandwidth is so full of other garbage that few people will pay much attention to this addition.

2. Until they launch the next war.
Can't you just see these guys booting the press pool out, so the only way to watch the invasion of Iran, Cuba, whatever, is to tune in?

I'm sure the psychological drugs will be next. Koolaid time, folks.

5. Unless you are south of the Mason-Dixon
Face it this goes with what a lot in power believe. People had better wake up of we will be the bad guys of the world if we are not already. People are already in fear of an army set up to fight and not as worried about terrorist groups. The rest of the world seem to be setting up the terrorist types. I still do not think 5% of the world, even with a great army, can beat the world in to doing as we like. I maybe wrong. One thing we do seem to see with these CEO's of business and military is that they really think they know what is best for every one else. And from what I hear on c-span a lot of the GOP think these people should have all the say.

3. Strange Feith would characterize our best journalists as generals.
If that's not a fascist characterization,...will nothing surpass it?

Maybe, this man is so over-the-cliff,...he totally knows not what he does.

Yep.

He has trapped himself into a box that guarantees the box.
