MN: Clear signs people aren't over the election
Clear signs people aren't over the election

http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/news/local/10347833.htm

BY BILL SALISBURY

Pioneer Press

Mon, Dec. 06, 2004

(SNIP)

"I'm protesting the election and George Bush's presidency for the next
four years," Kay Olson Roskaft said of the Kerry-Edwards sign in her
yard on the 1900 block of Randolph Avenue in St. Paul.

"He doesn't realize his policies in Iraq aren't working, and he
doesn't acknowledge his mistakes," said Roskaft, a pet nanny. "He
thinks he's the Messiah, and he only listens to the Christian right,
not to reasonable Christians. I think he's leading the country down
the path to doom."

On the other side of the political fence, University of St. Thomas
sophomore Erik Koob has one of the few remaining Bush-Cheney signs in
St. Paul, but it's probably the biggest one. His poster covers three
second-story windows on the house he and his college roommates rent on
the 100 block of Cretin Avenue South.

(SNIP)

The neighborhood is filled with Democrats, he said, "and I'm letting
them know who is president for the next four years … and I'm letting
them know that I'm here, too."

16. I took my "I voted" sticker
and stuck it onto my "Women for John Kerry" button....now it says "I voted for John Kerry". I wear it proudly in my extremely red county of upstate NY:7 Only problem is my teen girls keep trying to snitch it!

3. Hey, Koob
Bush may have won the election on the national level. But that doesn't mean we have to stop opposing him and his policies. And that doesn't mean we all support him.

Bush did not win my precinct, he did not win my county, and he did not win my state. In fact, knowing that you're in St Paul, every part of that probably applies to you. As much as you'd like to believe otherwise, Minnesota ain't Bush country.

My fellow Democrats are most amused: Erik Koob seems to live on a most appropriately-named street.

If he's such a big Bush supporter, then he should put his own ass on the line.

out of the coming draft. Or so he hopes. Remember, no deferments for school.

20. Dear old Macalester
Glad to know it's still the most patriotic school in the Midwest. We had a minor protest there when Reagan was re-elected, but I hope the Mac people were out in force for Bush's non-election.

finding the nearest recruitment office. I'm sure that he'll be more than happy to go fight Bush/Cheney's wars for them.

Not to worry, Mr. Boob, er, Koob. People like you are never overlooked, because you're always getting in people's faces.

How about taking your face to the nearest V.A. hospital and volunteering for bedpan duty. Maybe you could learn to change bandages for amputees. It might cure you of your bush fever infection.

Edit:

My letter to Mr. Salisbury, the reporter:

Dear Mr. Salisbury:

Mr. Koob wants to remind people of who he thinks the president is. I want to remind Mr. Koob that the election is tainted, and if he will keep his eyes and ears open he will learn more than he wants to know about this subject.

"I'm letting them know that I'm here, too," is an arrogant statement by Mr. Koob, and is a typical bush supporter comment. These people are always in other people's faces, and for some unfathomable reason they are proud of it. If Mr. Koob wants to make himself known to those who really matter, he can trot his butt over to the nearest Veterans Administration hospital and donate some of his bush fever energy to those who have paid the price for patriotic puffballs like Mr. Koob. I'm sure Mr. Koob is perfectly capable of cleaning bedpans and changing bandages of amputees. Perhaps this volunteer duty will inspire him to join the Armed Forces.

Of course, we all know that people like Mr. Koob are all talk, no action. Hot air balloons they are, looking down on everybody else.

Regards,
(Straight Shooter)

I'm leaving it on. I want people to know I voted for the smart one. It will be especially good to have on as this term of the bush maladministration goes the way I think it's going to go.

Anybody know where I can find a "Dont blame me. I didnt vote for him" bumper sticker.
Re Mr Koob: Im so glad to know what a dedicated Bush supporter he is. Now he should shut his mouth and take a trip down to the local Military recruiting office. I know the'd be thrilled to see him. Seriously, people like Mr Koob always talk the talk. But, rarely walk the walk.

So don't expect to see them in uniform anytime real soon.

And I love you for it!

People in L.A. still have their Kerry bumper stickers on their cars too.

In my town (Pasadena) some folks still have their Kerry signs in their yards.

I have to disagree with the notion that people are not over the election.

Most people have accepted the election's outcome and are moving into activism; this is the first step.

I think the signs are an expression of the outrage that people have against Bush's policies.

35. WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!! Kick it!
Keeping Kerry-Edwards signs in our yards, bumper stickers on our cars, and buttons on our lapels!

And get more of them--scrounge the headquarters--and put them out there! Instead of Christmas displays, decorate your yard with K/E signs! Make it a thing!

I love it! It's a great way to protest this overwhelmingly fraudulent election!

Keep it hot!
