Bush: 'Terrorists Still on the Move'
WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) said Monday that an attack on the U.S. consulate in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, demonstrated that "terrorists are still on the move" trying to intimidate Americans and force the United States to withdraw from Saudi Arabia and Iraq (news - web sites).

"They want us to grow timid and weary in the face of their willingness to kill randomly, kill innocent people," the president said. "That's why these elections in Iraq are very important."

~snip~

"The attacks in Saudi Arabia remind us that the terrorists are still on the move," the president said. "They're interested in affecting the will of free countries.

"They want us to leave Saudi Arabia," he said. "They want us to leave Iraq."

Maybe the "terrists" can hit the Carlyle Group and do us all a favor.

7. Terrorist's Victories
1. Bush removed troops from Saudi Arabia
2. Bush has declared an eternal crusade against the terrorists..
3. Bush has removed Saddam Hussain from Iraq.

These were 3 of the top goals of Al-Queda.

So did the terrorist already win..

10. How about this: The United States redirects its budgets to fight terrorism
Oops, I guess that was one of Bush's* goals too!

Someone is getting rich, but its not the middle class of America. Our soldiers are fighting for dirt cheap wages. Many Americans have taken lower paying jobs. Our economy is in shambles. (Bush* and the terrorist win!)

60. true enough, brundle....
sadly.

"If Jesus is with us, I think he stands beside the black man who faces the lynch mob, the midwife who is brought before the church for being a witch, the bewildered and naked prisoner cowering against his cell wall in Abu Ghraib, the transgender teenager who has decided to dress as herself, no matter what her parents or the kids at school do or say. Jesus stands with all of us, but He especially knows what it's like to be innocent, to be violated and murdered for telling the truth, to face a violent mob and be alone."
quoted from the "Jesusland" article on the homepage. One of the saddest things I have read in a long time. I forwarded it in it's entirety to my fundie boss.

26. The penny drops!
Maybe Bush is finally getting the jist of what it's all about:

<<They want us to leave Saudi Arabia," he said. "They want us to leave Iraq." >>

Since all his previous statements suggest that all terrorists irrationally "hate freedom" and just want to destroy the US, perhaps he's showing some progress in coming to grips with the underlying problem.

45. same way * acts about Afghanistan: BBC- Can Hamid Karzai deliver?
~snip~

Mr Karzai knows many Afghans expect to see fewer military commanders, known as warlords. But he made it clear he would not wipe the slate clean.

"There are nasty pieces and good pieces," he insisted in one interview. His dichotomy will soon be tested.

Afghans expect fewer warlords in power like General Dostum

There will also be controversial discussions about which "moderates" from the Taleban movement should be allowed to return to Kabul.

~snip~

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3979801.stm

and another:

~snip~
Afghanistan remains shattered by 25 years of conflict, with the economy on its knees, no functioning legal system and power coming from the barrel of the gun.

The ceremony at the presidential palace in Kabul would be a "national celebration for the people of Afghanistan", said Karzai's spokesman, adding that the new cabinet would focus on the opium trade and regional warlords.

"As we have said before the struggle against the narcotics will be one of the top priorities of the government," Jawed Ludin told reporters at a regular briefing Monday.

Much of the country remains under the sway of mujahedin commanders who are making money from the swelling drugs business. A recent United Nations (news - web sites) report said Afghanistan now pumps out 87 percent of the world's opium and heroin.
