Snow to stay at Treasury

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) - John Snow will remain as Treasury secretary in President Bush's administration, administration officials said Wednesday.

President Bush asked Snow to remain and Snow accepted.

Speculation had run rampant in the past two weeks that Bush would ask Snow to leave after two years on the job. The New York Times, the Washington Post and other news services had quoted senior administration officials as saying Snow would not serve much longer.

Snow has been Bush's main economic spokesman for two years since replacing the outspoken Paul O'Neill in early 2003. Snow campaigned hard for Bush in the recent campaign, visiting key battleground states dozens of times to give the message that Bush's tax cuts were working to create a healthy economy.

Snow has also been firm in his rhetoric in favor of a strong dollar, although he is quick to say that free markets should determine the exchange value of any currency.

4. I Guess George's Choice Turned Him Down
It sounds like George W.'s choice for Secretary of the Treasury turned down the job, so George needed Snow to stay until he found someone loyal enough for the job.

5. Ugh, the last quote in the article -
"We are ecstatic. We tried to pull out all the stops to make sure he stayed. He's one of best Treasury Secretaries we've had in 20 years. He's a strong supply-sider, he believes in free trade, in tax cuts and a stable currency," Moore said.

7. Rummy spends American blood. Gotta' keep Snow to spend our treasure.
Loyalty and solidarity in an evolving fascism is absolutely imperative. Bush could find NO ONE as loyal as Snow,...NO ONE.
