Groups demand statewide recount of presidential race

By Bob Dart

Cox News Service

WASHINGTON - One diehard Ohio voter predicted Wednesday that Nov. 2,
2004 — Election Day — will go down with Pearl Harbor Day as a similar
symbol "of infamy" in American history.

Others vowed the day of decision was yet to come in whether Ohio's 20
electoral votes would go to re-elect President Bush or to present John
Kerry, the currently defeated Democratic nominee, with a belated
surprise victory.

Three days after Bush was officially proclaimed to have carried Ohio
by nearly 119,000 votes, disgruntled congressional Democrats invited
an assortment of disbelievers to Capitol Hill to express their
displeasure. In this forum, the minority members of the House
Judiciary Committee said they would not let the issue of allegations
of election manipulation die.

"The one question that I am asked more than any other about voting
irregularities in Ohio is whether John Kerry was the true winner of
the election," said Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., ranking minority
member of the committee. "My answer is I do not know."

2. I don't know who that Ohioan was that related Nov. 2nd to
Pearl Harbor, but he's spot on. If our election was tampered with by the Republicans, and the Christian Right rush in to take credit for the win, I'd say we were attacked in just the same savage way as when the Japanese bombed our harbor.

4. NEW ELECTIONS, not mousey recount
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 07:38 AM by oscar111
Only new elections can corral the suppressed votes of those in black areas that had too few machines, had too few polling stations, and where Warren county officials counted behind secret doors.. probably tossing dem votes into boxes to burn a few minutes later, as soon as the truck could haul them home to the BBQ pit.

Dont join the mousey call for recount, raise your voice for

NEW ELECTIONS !

Canadian model for them... paper ballots, hand counted.

NO machine can be as trusted as pen on paper. NONE. Any complexity opens the way for tricks. Ask any card shark or magician. {I am an amateur magician}.

Paper is trustable, and CHEAPER. No hi purchase price, no warehouse storage fees. Makes one suspect that the machines we've had for years were never more than a gambit by machine makers for profits.

8. I think they are refering to Rev. Moss, he said that at the hearing
during his testimony on Wed. He and his wife will be the plantiffs in the lawsuit to be filed by Cliff Arnebeck.

6. Yup!
I'm thinkin

Bruce Willis Democrats

Terminator Democrats

Lethal Weapon Democrats

Take No Prisoners Democrats

Rockets Red Glare Democrats

and rolling these off the top of my head, I like

"T" Democrats the best

and I see a button "'T' Democrat" and someone asking me what that means, and me saying "Terminator Democrat."

Maybe it's because I'm a Californian.

But "Diehard Democrat" will do.

14. Literally as I was reading this post, I heard on AAR
a commercial for ohiodems.org and Al Franken reading the ad copy. "the vote counting is not over" "the election has not yet been decided" ....... "go to ohiodems.org for more information and to see how you can help."

16. I heard it too! It ran 2 or 3 times. Interesting since Franken had
avoided the Election Recount issue prior to this. Although the ad says, "not that any of us think the recount will change the result of the election..."

But it IS endorsing the recount, and asking for people to donate money for the recount. So that should boost the story's visibility even more!

19. So there are still a couple of our politicians who
do not feel like getting "over it" or beat the reactionaries at "re-framing". That's refreshing. But will that be enough?
