Lynn Swann considering run for Pa. governor (Repub - Big * Supporter)

Former Steelers wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Lynn Swann is considering running for governor as a Republican in 2006, a spokeswoman for Swann's consulting firm said.

A decision about whether to run is not imminent, the Swann Inc. spokeswoman said yesterday. Swann has been discussing the issue with his family, friends and political leaders, she said.

Robert Asher, one of Pennsylvania's national GOP committeemen, told The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News that Swann had called him seeking his support.

"With his name ID and the popularity he has, that is a heck of a start for this guy," said Montgomery County resident Asher, who has not decided on a candidate to support in 2006.

Ok - let's nominate Franco Harris as the Dem candidate - hey Franco was great campaigning for Kerry and other Dem candidates!

11. Rendell does Eagles football commentary every week
Has ever since he was mayor of Philadelphia.

Is this some bizarre attempt to get an Eagles vs. Steelers contest going in state politics? I'll take mine in the Superbowl, thank you.

13. GMTA
My son and I have been hoping for an Eagles/Steelers superbowl for a couple of months now.

The guv wouldn't sink to that level anyway, even if it was permitted.

14. Anybody with half a political brain knows that
this is a non-story. Yep, Ed R. would eat Swan alive. Eddie is an experienced, old-school dem politician that just delivered PA to Kerry. A "newbie" like Swan would NOT stand a chance, and everyone knows it.

would vote for him. He tells people to call him "Mr. Swann"

He is an ass.

8. A real fumble Little Lynnie!
Why do these jock-freaks always think they can start their political careers by running for something like governor. None of them ever serve on school boards or borough councils or planning commissions. They think they've got these big jobs coming to them because what - they played sports??

Anyway, Swann has no chance in a Pa. GOPinhead party that's already annointed ghoulish State Legislator Piccola to run against Big Ed.

I've met Swann and his old uniform number (88) is twice his IQ.

I got to see him speak at an Edwards rally in Johnstown. I'd actually like to see Franco run against Santorum! He would make a great Senator!

22. PEEEEE-YuuuuuuuuUUUUUKE!
Forget about devoting your life and learning to public service -- htese days, if you want to be a political leader you need to get there from a career in sports or movies.

What's next -- will they get PIXAR studios to create an animated Appealing LeaderTM?

Lynn Swann can kiss my ass.
