Former Marine tells of "psychopaths"
TORONTO — A former U.S. Marine in Iraq, testifying yesterday at a hearing for an American military deserter seeking asylum in Canada, said several men in his unit were "psychopaths" who enjoyed killing unarmed Iraqi civilians who posed no threat.

Jimmy Massey, a staff sergeant who was in the Marines for 12 years and served three months in Iraq before being honorably discharged with post-traumatic stress syndrome, made the allegations before Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board on the final day of an asylum hearing for Army Pfc. Jeremy Hinzman, 26.

Hinzman fled Fort Bragg, N.C., to Canada weeks before his 82nd Airborne Division was to be deployed to Iraq. He had served three years in the Army but applied for conscientious-objector status before his unit was sent to Afghanistan in 2002.

It would be nice to think that every soldier has rosy cheeks and an attitude to match. unfortunately there are nuts in the Army that scare even the most seasoned soldier.
When I was in the Paratroopers there were several people that I would want no part what-so-ever to accompany me to war.... These Fuckers belonged in a mental hospital ....

Flashback time, folks. To another war in another time.

Why is anyone surprised at this sort of testimony? It happens in all wars. It happens more when the leadership is fer shit.

The leadership in 1969 was fer shit. The leadership today is fer shit.

As in a post above about rosy cheeked kids ....... yeah, most of the military's rank and file are honest people doing what they see as honest, necessary work. But there will always be sociopaths in any group. Make it a group where killing is the implicit objective and you attract more than your fair share. The police are similar. Most cops are good cops. But there are always those few.

Can anyone say "psychological testing".
