WASHINGTON (AP) – A Navy fighter jet accidentally shot down during the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq had been misidentified by two Army Patriot missile batteries as an incoming Iraqi missile, a military investigation has found.

Soldiers also violated standard procedures involving the launch of the missiles, the investigation determined, but a summary of the inquiry released Friday provided no more detail.

Don't you keep up with the news? Saddam had these airplanes, see, that he could load up with Evil WMDs and fly all the way from Baghdad to New York City to dump their cargoes of death and destruction on an unsuspecting public. The guy on the Patriot scope saw an airplane in the sky and figured it was one of those Evil WMD-Delivering RPVs of Death and blew the shit out of it before it could make it to New York.

And then we found out that the RPVs were the planes the Baghdad Model Airplane Club trained new members to fly on before it sold them nice airplanes, Saddam was all fresh out of Evil WMDs and George Bush was a damn liar.
