Flameout burns Rudy politically (the Kerik debacle)
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 01:38 AM by kskiska
The short, disastrous nomination of Bernard Kerik ended with a whimper and may have ended Rudolph Giuliani's Teflon period -- a three-year stretch when his status as "America's Mayor" largely obscured his own shortcomings and the foibles of close associates.

Giuliani is still regarded as a serious presidential contender in 2008, but his political stock seems to have taken its first major tumble since he emerged as a national figure after the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Kerik debacle has also raised doubts about Giuliani's judgment in pushing his protege's nomination, considering Kerik's nanny troubles and an emerging string of unflattering business, personal and legal entanglements.

"It's an embarrassment for Giuliani if Giuliani wants to be president," said GOP consultant Nelson Warfield, who was Bob Dole's press secretary during the 1996 presidential campaign. "He's Kerik's biggest promoter and either he was reckless or uninformed, and neither of those things qualifies you for president. You'll never find anyone to say it, but this is a big negative with the Bush White House."

The Kerik firestorm, fueled by a New York media all too familiar with Giuliani and his aides, may portend even more intense scrutiny of Giuliani if he seeks national office.

I'm pretty sure that the current "president" is more than reckless and uninformed!

3. Giuliani has so many negatives as far as the RW is concerned.
He will have the same problem with the RED states as we would have running Hilliary. He is STILL a NYER and that is a negative with most. He LEFT his wife after having a PUBLIC affair. OMG that is a NO NO. He is PRO-CHOICE and pro-gay rights.
He was a great Mayor but has a very hard edge for even NYers and it would not work well on the campaign trail

18. Yes indeedy - here's Rudy Rockette
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I don't need any proof to know that Kerik is a vicous, sadistic, egomaniacal asshole. I can see it in his face. Today's news made me smile.

16. He was a devisive mayor until 9/11 put the national spotlight on him.
Don't be fooled. He's a typical republican prick. He's only interested in what a large or small or any government can do for him.

20. he was a great mayor if you were a tourist or maybe a business owner.....
but i think he screwed over the rest of us (and yonkers, when he shipped our homeless up there), including the nypd, which helped him get elected. most nyers i know hate him!
but then again, they are liberals!

And I can't stand him either. I was willing to give him a pass for the few minutes on 9/11 when he was actually acting like a human being, but he reverted to reptile mode very shortly afterward.

35. First wife, Regina, was his cousin.
He had it annulled years later on the technicality that proper permission from the Church hadn't been in order.

Or maybe he didn't know, but but should have suspected something when both bride and groom's invitation lists were the same.

5. his intention was to put someone in place to help him get contracts
everything rudy does is about himself and what he has to gain. he even blamed the troops for the failures in iraq rather than bush. kerik is an ignorant fool who is hired to do as others like rudy tell them to do. he wanted kerik in the homeland security position to help him get contracts. everything was always known about rudy.

he did nothing on 9/11 either. he got lucky because bush got scared and went into hiding so he held some press conferences and told people to come to new york for shopping. but it was always schumer and hillary and did what they could to get the money to help rebuild the state and help the people while rudy whored for the asshole bush who was keeping the money from them.

all of this was always known but we know the media are whores so they don't report it.

7. But Bush Utilized Him Totally
Birds of a feather flock together and we are talking fowl.

He housed his mistress in the same house as his wife and their son. What a creep. I wonder if he and O'Reilly have coffee together.

36. You're right, actually, aquart
He and his family lived in Gracie Mansion. The public parts of the house were used for various functions, and Rudy wanted to appear with his mistress at these. His wife won a court order banning the woman. Mrs. Giuliani didn't want to chance her children running into their father with his mistress.

His major problem in the 2008 race will be the Christian Right. They won't stand for a candidate like Giuliani.

Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 02:09 AM by norml
Just as we will never nominate Hillary Clinton for Pres. We like her in the Senate, where she is. Rudy Giuliani is being saved to run in 06, against Hillary Clinton, for her Senate seat.

Knocking off Hillary Clinton, and getting a New York Senate seat would be worth paying any price to them.

Frankly, I don't think the public is smart enough or has long enough memory to give a rat's ass about this scandal.

Like so many other things that people should be angered about these days....this will be a yawn and flush.

21. and don't forget Rudy blamed the troops for the missing 380 ton cache
of weapons going missing in Iraq. If they weren't secured it must be the troops fault. Another chicken hawk with a comb over knows where and how servicemen are in dereliction of duty. Such a piece of shite, that Benito Guiliani.
