Ukraine Leader: U.S. Meddled in Election
Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych accused the United States on Monday of meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs, claiming the Americans have financed his opponent's presidential campaign. Yanukovych, in an interview with The Associated Press, said the "interference" can be described as Western pressure intended to exert the will of the Americans on this country of 48 million.

Yanukovych is running against Viktor Yushchenko in a Dec. 26 rerun mandated after the Supreme Court ruled that a Nov. 21 runoff election was marred by fraud. Yanukovych was the declared the winner of the Nov. 21 vote, which was nullified by Ukraine's Supreme Court after massive fraud was alleged by Yushchenko's camp and Western countries.

"The United States' meddling into Ukraine's internal affairs is obvious," he said. "It is appearing as the financing of Yushchenko's campaign." The Bush administration has spent more than $65 million in the past two years to aid political organizations in Ukraine. U.S. officials say the activities don't amount to interference in Ukraine's election but are part of the $1 billion the State Department spends each year trying to build democracy worldwide.

No American funds were sent directly to Ukrainian political parties, U.S. officials say. "The financing is unacceptable," Yanukovych said

2. Well if U.S. officials say no American funds were not sent, then that
is what happened. Whatever you, DON'T try to find out for yourself! When writing a news story, you must not obtain incriminating facts! Just the statement from each side!

4. Mr. Yanukovich calling the kettle black
His campaign was officially sponsored by Pootie Poot, and that is 900 mln dollars in cash and other benefits. The former convict really knows this stuff.

...a major influence in say the Mexican or Canadian national elections. Especially if we thought the Russian backed candidate was going to allow Russia to start building military bases a few miles from Americas border. Most still have a bug up their ass about Cuba.

6. Payback will be a bitch
You can bet Putin will be watching elections in countries the U.S. finds in their vital interest and will support opposing candidates.

I'll put my money on the ex-KGB agent every time.

7. LOL! Accusations with NO proof
"H. Omelchenko alleges that V. Yanukovych is an agent of the KGB and that his campaign for the Presidency is an operation of the Russian Special Services. But he denies the presence of Russian Special Forces in Ukraine."

Doesn't pass the smell test. Omelchenko is not a disinterested observer here. He also has a lot at stake, and that makes him suspect.

"At the same time, Omelchenko confirms that he personally inspected the facilities of the Presidential Administration when it had been thought that the Russian Special Forces squads were camped there. He did not find any foreign troops."

So the opposition is spreading lies in order to start a revolution.
No wonder Bush supports them.

BTW, where did you get the $900 million figure?

9. RED CLOUD Calling the Last Mohican!
Why would I say KGB? Did you ever hear of a former CIA chief becoming President of the USA?

Let's take care of how we espouse pale face ideology.

11. Uh-oh. If it's proven, say 'toodles' to US relations, possibly worldwide.
Hell, we can't run our own so it make sense we want to manipulate others to put in leaders sympathetic to ours.
