Magnetic Bumper Stickers Can Damage Paint (like "Support our Troops" ones)
OMAHA, Neb. -- Are you wearing your patriotism on your bumper?

Magnetic ribbons adorn many cars. Some say "support the troops" or other patriotic phrases, but a body shop owner warns that those magnets can cause rust.

"When rain falls (at the seam), it can leak behind the magnet," said Matt Sain, with Central Body Co.

Sain said his business advertises on the side of company vehicles with magnetic decals, and the business is happy to repair rusted paint jobs. But, Sain said, you can avoid a costly paint job by being careful with your magnetic decals.

"We found out after a couple months, moisture gathers behind the decal. It starts to cause rust," Sain said. "What I'd recommend is removing the magnet one time a week, thoroughly clean behind it and (clean) the back side of the magnet."

7. These colors ran
I saw a bumper sticker on a car a few weeks back. All I could see on it was the blue part of the American flag and the words "Don't Run" on the bottom. Apparently, the red stripes from the flag and the words: "These colors don't" faded off the bumper sticker.

The moral of the story: Those colors ran.

3. Apparently it can cause your thought processes to rust, too.
Some of the people I know who have these seem a little slow on the uptake when I discuss the Iraq situation with them. I'm going to recommend that they take out their brains, clean all the unquestioning patriotic Fox-based ignorant adherence out, and then put them back in. It might help.

4. ROFL!

I would doubt that the ppl that put these stupid things on their cars would expend the energy to clean up the problems they create - even if it would save their own paintjobs.

Their version of "supporting the troops" is generally just sticking their made in China stickers on or tying yellow ribbons on fenceposts and letting them fade and tatter (I see the same treatment of their flags - especially the ones on their radio antennas).

What?! Once a week?! That's nuts! I gotta draw the line somewhere with my troop-supporting. I stuck the thing on there, didn't I...and now this?
Jeez, give 'em an inch...

12. Not to mention discolor the paint!
And that's assuming it doesn't burn onto the car and become near impossible to remove!

15. But if one is a true patriot, why would one ever want to remove them?
Why not just paint "Support our President" right onto the car?

Oh. Right. Because they won't want it on their car if a Democrat ever gets elected president again.

17. "What I'd recommend is removing the magnet one time a week..."
What I'd recommend is living by thought rather than slogan. Barring that ability, lodge the magnet up your ass. No danger of rust there.

18. I have had a couple of magnetic bumpersticker holders on my car for
a year or more and no problem what so ever. I do have my car in the garage and I take the magnets off when I wash the car and clean and replace them, every few months. They also have the blue ribbon that says Bring HOme Our Troops at Troopsribbon.com
