Boxer criticizes vetting of security nominee
go Barbara!

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/12/14/MNG71ABH1V1.DTL

Sen. Barbara Boxer warned Monday that Americans "should feel concerned" about the administration's "very bad job of vetting" Bernard Kerik, who withdrew as President Bush's nominee to head the Department of Homeland Security last week within days of his selection because of questions about his career and personal life.

"They're not doing their job over there," Boxer, D-Calif., said of the White House in reaction to the embarrassing developments over Kerik, whose troubles included a failure to disclose immigration problems and pay taxes on a family nanny -- and may involve more serious published allegations of extramarital affairs and improper gifts from supporters.

Boxer, speaking at a wide-ranging press conference Monday in San Francisco, also said she supported calls for federal legislation to stiffen drug testing in major league baseball if its leaders didn't act to do so in the wake of the grand jury revelations in the BALCO steroids case. The senator also said she thought Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's first-year performance was positive in some areas and disappointing in others.

1. What is she talking about?
According to Scotty, the administration knew all about all these little items in Bernie's past, and nominated him anyway. There was no breakdown in the vetting process, at least according to Scott McClellan, because they were aware of all the dirt except for that darned unnamed nanny, which is what sank the nomination.

The more pertinent question is with all this knowledge, why did the White House put forward this particular nominee? Did they think no one would notice? Or did they just figure the media would maintain their supine posture? I'm guessing that the corrupt Bush administration is as surprised as anyone that the media lapdogs reared up on their hind legs for once.

4. yes, i heard scotty say this in his press conference!!
and I just shook my head---it was so stupid!!

-to me it is just part of the WH overlooking those little problems related to his conduct---(after all, they themselves are deep in shit)--and they hoped the press/people would do the same!!

5. "the media lapdogs reared up on their hind legs" ??? No, they didn't.
Until Bernie resigned, citing the LEAST damaging reason, the media was obsessively kissing his fat ass.

6. Did she ever say we should feel concerned about:
1.Two stolen presidential elections, one set-up and/or stolen California Governor election.
2.MSM complicity in the same.
3.Ongoing slaughter in Iraq and ME.
4.Lies that got us there.
5.MSM complicity in the same.
5.The swift passage of the Patriot Act.
6.The truth about 9/11.

( Apologies if she has- I haven't been following Boxer lately.)
