Test of U.S. missile defence shield fails

"An attempt to launch an interceptor missile as part of the U.S. missile defence shield failed early Wednesday in the first test of the system in nearly two years.

The Missile Defense Agency said the ground-based interceptor automatically shutdown "due to an unknown anomaly" shortly before it was to be launched from Kwajalein Atoll in the central Pacific Ocean.

A target missile carrying a mock warhead successfully launched from Kodiak, Alaska, at 12:45 a.m. ET.

Officials said they would now review the pre-launch data to determine the cause of the shutdown."

3. Armor or Missle Defense?
Maddezmom, exactly!! It's all about priorities. This administration is willing to fund missile defense programs (that don't work) but not our troops, Iraq firehouses but not American ports (security). He is asking for another attack! The Democrats are right to jump on this and distill the notion that they somehow don't support the troops. Also, note the great funding disparity between the pittance it would cost to buy more (ask for) more armor and the billions upon billions spent on missile defense.
