More uncounted ballots turn up in Washington state governor's race

SEATTLE (AP) - The candidates are still fighting for every vote in the close race for governor in Washington state.

King County has found another 22 uncounted ballots in the bottom of some polling machines. So far, about 600 uncounted ballots have turned up and they'll be presented to a county canvassing board. That board will decide whether those votes can be tallied in the current statewide hand recount.

Republican Dino Rossi leads Democrat Christine Gregoire (GREG'-wahr) by 106 votes, with seven counties still counting. Results are due by December 23rd.

The republicans are planning on challenging all of thse ballots (They're getting scared!!!). He even quoted in a different news article:
"It's just too much of a coincidence. They just keep coming up with votes and it has never benefited me," he said. "We're not going to take anything lying down. I'll guarantee you that."

6. Dino is saying that WE are stealing it. He plans to go to the legislature

if he loses the recount. WA law says that you can contest the election to the legislature if you feel there was fraud involved. House is democratic, senate is republican. Apparently after Jan 11, the house and senate will both be democratic... so if they do decide to contest the election, then i guess all we have to do is stall until Jan 11.

it's starting to look really fishy the second time around. Don't get me wrong, I love King County. I used to live there. But, they seriously need to improve their organizational skills when it comes to keeping track of ballots.

We hire people who are barely trained to perform a job one day of the year, as volunteers. There is a HUGE chance of things getting lost, screwed up, etc.

Our law says that only two recounts can be performed. At least they did SOMETHING right with the voting laws here :-)
