Airbus superjumbo €1.45 billion over budget
http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/breaking/2004/1215/breaking29.htm

Planemaker Airbus's A380 superjumbo project is running €1.45 billion over budget because of work to improve the efficiency and weight of the aircraft, the co-head of parent company EADS said.

Total costs for the mammoth doubledecker are currently estimated at over €12 billion, EADS German co-chief Mr Rainer Hertrich said.

...

Mr Hertrich said today that the A380 will be presented on January 18th and added that the company was sticking to its target for the aircraft to take off for the first time by the end of March.

The A380 is set to eclipse Boeing's 747 jumbo as the world's biggest airliner, with seating for 555 passengers or more depending on layout

6. It will fly, It won't take much to build new passenger bridges.
I would not consider Boeing an American company, after they outsourced half of the commercial airplane fabrication and manufacturing.

8. That's what they said about the 747, isn't it?
About the not many airports being able to accept it, and it being too large to possibly be safe...

I, for one, welcome new technology, but after being burned by Microsoft countless times, I'll let someone else beta test it :7
