Kadhafi: Turkey will be Islamic Trojan horse in EU
ROME - Turkey will be an Islamic "Trojan horse" inside the European Union if it is allowed to join the bloc, to the advantage of Al-Qaeda terror chief Osama bin Laden and other extremists, Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi said in an interview with Italian radio reported Thursday.

"The Islamic world, including Islamic extremists up to bin Laden, is rejoicing at Turkey's entry. It is their Trojan horse," Kadhafi was quoted as saying by the daily La Repubblica in extracts from the RAI interview published before its broadcast.

Kadhafi said he had not opposed Turkey's EU membership but warned of its possible consequences.

"I say only that there will be consequences from the entry of this Trojan horse," he added, without elaborating.

<snip-o-rino>

better listen to him now. He's a "GOOD GUY"

1. Turkey is a secular democracy
until recently, Sufis weren't allowed to openly worship. I've been told it is a bit different now, but I'm really not sure. I know that an Islamic fundamentalist party has gained some power, but I don't believe they have full power. And anyone who knows Sufis know that they are far from being fundamentalists! I would say Kadhafi said this because he wishes to weaken the secular government and keep Turkey leaning towards the fundamentalist camps.

2. Kadhafi sucking up to his US masters
But then again, he can speak with a certain amount of authority about terrorism, what with being a terrorist and all.

3. No. Libya was the first to issue an INTERPOL arrest warrant against
bin Laden, in 1998.

Libya is a secular state, and Ghaddafi is not a supporter of Islamic terror.

4. Pan Am 103?
The Berlin discotheque bombing?

Sorry, but my definition of terrorist isn't based on how much one likes or dislikes Osama bin Laden.

6. Note the qualified term "Islamic terror."
My point stands, that Ghaddafi need not be regarded as "sucking up" to Bush when he speaks of Turkey as an Islamic Trojan Horse.

Libya is secular, and Ghaddafi is a pan Arabist, not an Islamic Jihadist.

In 1996, bin Laden's Libyan supporters conspired with Britain's MI5 to assassinate Ghaddafi. Former secret service agent David Shayler has testified to this.

5. What a nice fellow.
Trying to keep his fellow Muslims down, while appeasing European right wingers. And a slap in the face for Turkey's AKP, who, in his mind, does not care about him enough.

How "Middle Eastern" his attitude is, you cannot begin to understand. So sad.
