Lieberman Touted For Many Posts
A year ago, being a moderate didn't help Sen. Joseph Lieberman.

Trying to win the New Hampshire primaries and gain steam in his bid for the Democratic nomination for president, Lieberman was defending his support for the U.S. war in Iraq to Democratic voters angry about the conflict.

Fast forward to the present day, however, and the Connecticut senator's centrist approach has made him an important player in the Senate, and possibly in the Bush administration.

As the White House searches for a new secretary for the Homeland Security Department, many eyes are turning to Lieberman. He received ringing endorsements this week from several of his Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle, including Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), chair of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, where Lieberman is the top Democrat.

4. The LAST THING that we need...
is this NEOCON as our ambassador to the UN. I think this is the post he will eventually be offered, and I think he will accept it.

2. He is not a Democrat...He should switch parties already and end the
pretense. During WWII he would have been labelled as a collaborator.

3. Yeah, every Dem is worried that Lieberman will choose them next to stab
in the back so they all tred carefully around this turncoat.

5. Mainly, the R's are just trying to get another Senate seat.
CT has a Rethug governor. They're hoping to get an open-seat appointment to solidify their hold over the Senate. As much as I dislike Lieberman, we need him to stay right where he is.

7. It's a brilliant stroke to get the mouth-breathers thinking that Bush is
reaching out across the aisle to build his "coalition." What a load.

12. He did already
He said he won't take the post.

I'm no fan of Lieberman, but let's give whatever little credit is due.

11. Since the scale has moved to the
extreme-right, what was before the left is now the center, and what was the center is now the right. That leaves us at the extreme left. Or worse! Think I'll go star-gazing (while the sky is clear enough)...

13. Looking down the road a year or two --
-- I see Lieberman becoming the new tv presence for Orick vacuum cleaners.

His career has sucked for a long, long time and thus could give real authority to that line of product.
