Chile Wins Trade Sanctions Against U.S.
<GENEVA (Reuters) - Chile on Friday became the eighth member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to win the right to hit the United States with sanctions over an illegal anti-dumping law known as the Byrd amendment.

The South American country had initially held off when the European Union, Japan, Canada, Brazil and others made a similar successful request for an initial $150 million in punitive duties late last month.

Chilean trade envoy Alejandro Jara told the WTO's Disputes Settlement Body (DSB) his country had decided to act because the United States showed no sign of repealing the measure, repeatedly declared illegal by the Geneva-based body, trade officials said.

``We have no choice,'' they quoted him as telling the closed-door meeting.

In reply, U.S. ambassador Linnet Deily reaffirmed the oft declared intention of the Bush administration to ``work with Congress'' to remove the amendment from the statute books. >

1. How's that ideological zealotous following of the "free market" treating
you now that you are being isolated within America where the consumer base is shrinking, Repukes?

AND you're having to compete against China and India who are homegrowing their competition against you.

It's too bad you whacko Repugs are tearing us Dems down along with you.

2. Well, a country's gotta do what a country's gotta do
The more of them stand up to us, the better. We have no excuses for our behavior towards other countries.
