Tightest Security Ever for Inauguration(all parade viewers to be searched)
WASHINGTON -- President Bush will be sworn in next month for a second term amid the tightest security in inaugural history, with police planning to search every one of the tens of thousands of people expected to line the parade route.

Behind the scenes, thousands of specialized law enforcement and military personnel will stand ready to respond to any emergency.

Security planners say they have seen no intelligence indicating terrorists will attempt to target the first inauguration since al-Qaida's attack against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. But authorities are preparing for the worst, even as they strive for as open and accessible an event as possible.

"We are aware we are at war," said Terrance W. Gainer, police chief at the Capitol, where the ceremony will be held. "The whole world will truly be watching. We have to be on guard."

1. I'm thinking Bush is really at war with
liberals and thinking Americans who don't like the slide to fascism.

2. I am surprised
that they are holding such a public display to be attended by elite people in view of all the scare talk concerning the terrorist threat of sneaking in a Nuclear device or even a dreaded dirty bomb.

Perhaps we are just being Bee Esssed on the terror front.

24. Exactly.
If there were a genuine threat substantial enough to warrant a legitimate danger to the _resident, you'd think they'd simply cancel the public inauguration.

He simply wants a coronation attended only by unquestioning worshippers.

3. I can understand their passion for security.
Our world stopped for days, weeks and months after the murder of JFK, I never want to see that happen to us again.

13. Maybe not by you and me,
But such an event would serve to elevate Bush to some kind of sainthood status, guranteed.

No, we aren't at war, you fipduck. We're on a mighty crusade to spread freedom and democracy around the world, and the best way to do that of course is to suppress it here in America :eyes:

8. Never before was a pResident so terrified of the American people....
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 05:11 PM by BrklynLiberal
He has good reason to be afraid. He knows that he was not truly elected to the office that he is being sworn into, and that the vast majority of the people in this country know it...despite what the kiss-ass mass media says.
It is the American public that he is scared of...not foreign terrorists!

12. I bet they stop all cameras and mobiles
A smart designer could build in a single-shot camera gun in to
what appears a digital camera, or video camera. HOwever, its gonna
be hard to stop a secret service agent from going neocon and deciding
that democracy best start by ending dictatorship at home.

Would you have killed hitler had you a chance in 1936. With every
passing year, it seems this is the repeating moral question of the
century.

15. Secure security
Mrs. Gandhi, as recalled, was murdered by one of her personal guards. Without a doubt, there is no one in bush's secret service who has any relative serving in Iraq. It will be very hard though, to scrutinize all the extras being brought in, including the military.
I wish that no democrat congress person would feel it necessary to be in the vicinity. Not as a snub but for their own safety.

17. The reason they're not using wands and metal detectors ...
... is because they'll be looking for eggs, tomatoes, protest signs, and any other materials of dissent.

This isn't about security or terrorism or safety; it's about the most hated and corrupt (sorry excuse for a) President in this nation's history.

22. Its because its a coronation, and will be remembered like nuremburg
They have a special crown, and a big chair. Someone will be there
from the church with the holy oils and the master of the crusade
against islam will be ordained for the second crusade to rescue the
holy oil reserves from the great unwashed.

And when history looks back after the nuclear war, they'll recall
the even in old black and white footage like nuremburg, with such
great pomp and circumstance. Surely, there are needed as well a
great military parade of the mighty army of the crusade, where the
new king will throw holy water on the missiles to annoint them.

19. "ready to respond to any emergency"
yup, can't allow a sudden outbreak of free speech during the coronation, can we?

The "terrorists" they are trying to stop will be people with signs, placards, tshirt slogans, or anytthing else showing that some Americans are very unhappy with what our country has turned into.
