Bush Criticized Over Social Security Plan
Bush Criticized Over Social Security Plan

Tue Dec 21, 2:21 AM ET

By LEIGH STROPE, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Critics of President Bush (news - web sites)'s plan to create personal investment accounts in Social Security (news - web sites) say he is exaggerating the program's funding problems to boost public support for his idea.

"Social Security is like a car with a flat tire," said Peter Orszag, an economist at the liberal Brookings Institution and adviser in the Clinton White House. "There is a problem. We need to fix the flat tire. But we don't need to replace the car."

1. And he wants to borrow money to put the plan into effect.
I think the national debt might hit $10 trillion under this president.

2. here's the main problem...
As Krugman recently wrote about how we would raise the money to fund this. "The only people that won't be fooled by this scheme will be the central bankers in China and Japan".
Bush is like a gambler that has run out of credit in every casino in Vegas. Nobody's going to stake him. What I'm worried about is what damage is being done while this and Rumsfeld clog up the news.

8. Does that mean that he won't be able to borrow the money?
That's awesome, if that's the case. We need to stop adding to our national debt.

6. The only dicks are the American public.
They don't want details. They just want smooth words. They don't even want to fucking THINK. Only easy shit.

They don't want any of it unless it's mindles, so all they care for is the sales pitch.

And we are getting what they deserve.

5. Look out! Social Security has WMDs!
Therefore, we must destroy it in order to save it.

Fear fear fear fear fear fear. That's all they know. Problem is, it seems to work with the American sheeple. "...he is exaggerating the...problems to boost public support for his idea." Now where I have heard this before?

7. W has started a campaign for SS reform much like the ones...
for the war in Iraq and his anti-terrorist measures

That is a paraphrase of the actual press summary of W drumming up support for SS privatization....seriously.

9. As The Big Dog would say, "Mend It, Don't End It!"
Do not the bastards make us pay for detroying Social Security by lifting the ceiling to pay for privatization which will destroy the guaranted Social Security benefits.

Social Security is not just a retirement program; it is an insurance program which provides survivor and disability benefits. We must not allow the Rethugs to destroy it in the name of it. Social Security is not in crisis. Do not believe them! They lie!
