BAGHDAD, Iraq - Rockets and mortar rounds struck a U.S. base in the northern city of Mosul on Tuesday, killing at least 22 people and wounding 50, a Pentagon (news - web sites) official said. The attack came the same day that British Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) made a surprise visit to Baghdad and described the ongoing violence in Iraq (news - web sites) as a "battle between democracy and terror."
