University to Buy Clintons' 1970s Home
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas has agreed to buy the house where Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton lived when they worked in Fayetteville in the 1970s.

The university said it would pay $249,950 for the property and structure at 930 California Blvd.

University vice chancellor Don Pederson said the campus plans to hold the house until the city of Fayetteville or a nonprofit group can purchase it.

The UA System Board of Trustees still must approve the purchase. The panel meets next on Jan. 27. The sellers, James and Janet Greeson, have lived in the house since 1983. They approached the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission last month, saying they were interested in selling.

The Clintons were married in the house.

1. It's really a cute house, but $249,950 for a 1 bedroom, 1 bath?
Guess I'll never see another raise!

2. Where's it located?
I drove down California Street awhile back thought there might be sign or something about the Clintons first home.

The UofA has money to spend on real estate, but not much on raises.

3. I think it's 930. It's stone and just below the turn off to Waton Business
College...almost to the 4-way stop sign at the bottom of the hill.

Next time I'm up on campus I'll make it a point to find it.

5. I'm trying to remember, from his book ...
... is that the house Bill scraped his savings together to buy ... and told Hillary that she would HAVE to marry him now, because it was simply too big for him to live there all alone? I thought that was rather sweet!
