2. Okay. After an attitude adjustment, they now LOVE trial lawyers,
LOVE recounts and DEFY the will of the people. At least they didn't change all their spots.

4. My understanding is they now want to try to determine the intent of the...
...voter on the disqualified ballots that they said they didn't want to count (not the found ones, but the one's that they rejected).

7. If that is what they try to do the court is going to get pissed because
they just got a ruling in their favor a couple of days ago - now they are going to argue the opposite position? - I don't think so - looks like a good way to get a dismissal with prejudice - or even a contempt of court citation. That aside - a move like this would make them look like sore loser assholes.

9. From the NYT....
O"fficial results from the manual recount will not be announced until Thursday, after King County, which includes Seattle, reviews up to 735 disputed ballots. Republicans, who fought hard to keep those ballots out of the tally, were already vowing Wednesday to press election officials to consider several hundred other disqualified ballots cast in other counties."

24. and they have a "SoreLoserman" in Rossi..
He was very eloquent a few days back when he counselled Gregoire about how she "needed to concede" for the good of the state :)

Shoe, meet other foot :)

10. CNN must be wrong.
A couple of weeks ago Rossi said that we needed to get this election behind us for the good of the state and have closure.

Certainly he would take his own advice and concede so we all could move on.

11. I expect that if litigation doesnt work --
-- and I don't think it will -- they will go the California route and try a recall. They will stop at nothing. The trick will be to try to anticipate their next moves and be prepared. (This is the problem with being a progressive/liberal/democrat -- we don't think in those perverted ways!)

18. The manual recount fee of $730,000 is refunded if successful.
When King County is complete, the margin should be about 250 votes in Gregoire's favor.

21. KOMO-TV: "Not so fast, Republicans said. ..."
Not so fast, Republicans said.

"I don't think anyone will view Christine Gregoire as the legitimate governor" if she wins by a tiny margin in King County or because of the Supreme Court ruling, Lane said Wednesday before the court ruling was handed down. Republicans are already preparing to challenge the election results in court if Rossi loses.

23. GOP will "contest the election before the state legislature"
The results of the second recount have not yet been certified as official by the Washington secretary of state, and a lawyer for the state Republican Party said Wednesday that if Rossi does lose after the third and final recount, the party would contest the election before the state legislature, which is controlled by Democrats.

Republicans said Wednesday that the state Supreme Court has suddenly changed the rules for counting votes in the governor's race and that the party would urgently look across Washington state for ballots that were improperly disqualified.

that said last week the dems should stop trying to use the courts to gain political advantage. Amazing how qiuckly they jump to the courts themselves.

22. Republicans CANNOT get ballots from other counties tallied now...
State law says that the results for any county cannot be certified more than 3 times, which means that they can be counted once, then recounted twice.... Well, this is the 2nd recount.

They're dead in the water. The only thing they can do is appeal the election, which they will lose.
